Q. Imagine your client asks you to design a room in a way that is visually pleasing but not practical. How would you react?
A. "First, you need to be able to accomplish their goals by making them happy. Reassure them that they hired you for your expertise and inspire confidence in their decision. I always like to present my design decisions as goals of the project, rather than necessities. This way our clients feel comfortable knowing that we are actively listening to their wants and needs."
Q. What is your favourite decor accent?
A. My favourite decor accent is Paint! It's one of the most inexpensive ways to make a room look beautiful. Use of colour or multi colour can create a stunning impact even if there is little furniture.
Q. What is the most important part of a kitchen renovation?
A. The most important part of a kitchen is the layout. It has to be functional and you have to make the most of your space. Proper measurement to ensure you have enough walking space for cooking, and making sure your appliances are spaced out correctly to ensure an efficient work space, are both very important aspects of the kitchen layout.
Q. How would you start to prioritize tasks for a renovation project?
A. I would start with first asking what their needs and must haves are, and then ask them about their wants (that aren't necessarily a priority). Knowing why they are renovating is also a very important thing to consider when making the plan. Once we know what you need and why, we can look at your budget, timing and flexibility to schedule the work in a way that fits your lifestyle and desired end result!
